Say hello to the next Big Thing!

Today we welcome band number 4 to the label, Cardiff's Big Thing!

After a chance meeting at Bargain Booze, Dan, Jen, Jonny and Matt were stoked to find a shared love of discount wine, shoegaze and dips.

Settling on the name Big Thing because the other names they came up with were even worse, the band started writing, recording and playing house shows, in their own houses, to nobody.

Influenced by bands such as Cocteau Twins, Wild Nothing and War on Drugs, you can draw your own conclusions.

We release their debut single 'Longbeach' this friday!

Swn, Session and 6music

So it's been a busy weekend here at Phwoar & Peace!

Rainbow Maniac played to a packed out Big Top at their first ever Swn Festival.

Earlier in the morning they recorded an acoustic session for Bethan Elfyn and BBC Radio Wales

and to finish off the weekend rather nicely Bethan Elfyn played Hoult's debut track 'Pharmacy while sitting in for Tom Robinson's BBC Introducing Mixtape

New Signing!

Welcome Picsel to the Phwoar & Peace family!

PICSEL is a side project of Broken Fires. In their own words:

"We started writing the BF second album. We wrote a lot of songs. Some great ones. We have thirteen wonderful and epic demos we are currently shaping and working on for the next full length record. It is going to be a banger.

HOWEVER… By accident we also managed to write 9 songs that don’t quite fit with the BF sound. The type of songs your mum definitely won’t enjoy. They are great! So, we started a side project. It is called PICSEL."

FFO: Weezer, Fidlar, Pinact

We will be releasing double A-side 'Fat & Old / Status Update' this Friday the 13th!!

New Release: Hoult - Pharmacy

Pharmacy Single Cover Large.jpg

Our second release is 'Pharmacy' by Hoult (Formerly Sam Fowke)

Hoult has the rare knack of sounding both dreamy and sharp at the same time. This, married with vital yet wistful song-writing, concocts his imaginative brand of guitar pop.

‘Pharmacy’ builds from an affecting intimacy into a song with a grand scale: possessing folk-tinged anthemic choruses reminiscent of Bombay Bicycle club and Frightened Rabbit and rippling with personal lyrics that tap into wider themes: “Pharmacy summarises the feeling of frustration when you cannot help someone you care about.”Says Hoult “Darker themes run through the veins of this track, yet the energetic and cheerful instrumentation represent the mask a lot of people wear on a daily basis.”
